Three deaf women with widely varying stories share their experiences in this unique collection, revealing the vast differences in the circumstances of their lives, but also striking similarities. One tells of an oral education in the USA, another of her experience as a Jewish Deaf girl in wartime Britain, and the third of her year-long journey throughout Asia, Australia and Africa teaching administrators, teachers and deaf students about Total Communication in 1976. Despite the variation in their experiences they reveal some of the common threads that weave through the lives of all deaf individuals.
