A bold and thought-provoking new play bringing together Deafinitely’s Artistic Director Paula Garfield and journalist Rebecca Atkinson (The Guardian’s Losing Sight, Still Looking column) with Olivier-award winning actress Kathryn Hunter as movement director.
It follows a Deaf couple faced with a difficult decision about what is best for their Deaf child. Encouraged by doctors to put their daughter through a cochlear implant operation, they fear she will lose her rich deaf culture and ask if deafness is something that should be 'fixed'. But if they refuse the procedure, do they risk jeopardising her chances for the future? Putting perceptions of disability centre stage, the play looks at universal issues of parental choice and love.
