Because of the wide interest in this topic, this special, focused edition of 'Deaf Worlds' journal (Volume 13: 3, November 1997) is now available to non-subscribers. This collection of papers grew from the successful 1994 and 1995 Issues in Interpreting Conferences at the University of Durham and the Association of Sign Language Interpreters in 1977. It was agreed that this issue of 'Deaf Worlds' should bring some of these works together as professional thinking on the development of sign language interpreting at that time.
