Turn-Taking, Fingerspelling And Contact In Signed
This volume examines key factors of signed languages from a selection of international Deaf communities. Studied and assessed are: The reasons behind the perceived differences on how men and women fingerspell; The current state of transliteration from spoken English to manually coded English; How signers map particular concepts onto their hands and bodies; Whether Flemish interpreters' turn-taking practices allow for equal participation. Finally, a team of Spanish researchers investigate the bilingual community in Barcelona to measure the influence of recent worldwide socio-political movements.
