Forest Books: Fingerspelling DVD

This DVD has been produced in response to student feedback, as many feel they lack opportunity for receptive practice.  It is designed for level two students but is suitable for level one improvers and level three beginners.The running time is 2 hours and 30 minutes.  There are 70 tests, each test containing 20 words or phrases.  Most of the tests are single words eg names and places, but some tests have two or more words.  These will be more challenging and you may have to watch a few times. 

The fingerspelling is presented with natural hand position.  This is in line with how fingerspelling is presented in the 201 Signature video assessment.  You will see most clearly, but some will be more difficult to see and will require you to work out the letters you can't quite see, using the letters you do know.

The DVD has been produced without the face showing and therefore the usual clues from lip pattern.  This will improve your reading of fingerspelling more rapidly as you won't be able to lip read the answers.
It is best to start at test one and finish at test 70, as the fingerspelling gets a bit quicker and the words and names harder as it progresses through to the last test.  Pause your DVD after each word and write it down.  At the end of each section of 20 words you can check your answers as they are presented at the end of each test.  Before going on to a new test, trying fingerspelling all the names on your list.  This will help you improve your productive fingerspelling also.   

When you have finished all 70 tests go back and do them again and see if you have improved!
